Bacta takes MGD campaign to ACOS as Budget pressure mounts

Bacta will use next week’s ACOS to rally industry support for its campaign against an increase in Machine Games Duty, as the amusement sector faces a crucial few weeks ahead of the Autumn Budget.

The trade association will have a dedicated Bacta Lounge at the show, where members will be able to hear the latest on its lobbying activity and discuss how individual operators can support the campaign.

Bacta Director of Communications Allaster Gair said the organisation is making the “strongest possible case” against an MGD increase and pressing government for policies that will allow amusement businesses to continue investing and growing.

“This year’s ACOS comes at a crucial time for our industry,” said Gair. “With the Autumn Budget approaching, Bacta is making the strongest possible case against an increase in Machine Games Duty and pressing for policies that allow our members to invest and grow.”

The association is particularly encouraging members to use their own relationships with constituency MPs to reinforce the industry’s message.

“Political decisions in the coming weeks could have lasting consequences for businesses across our membership,” Gair continued. “The experiences of members, and the relationships you have with your local MPs, are vital to our campaign.”

Alongside the political discussions, Bacta is encouraging members to make the most of ACOS as an opportunity to see the latest products, meet suppliers and exchange views with colleagues from across the sector.

Gair added: “Please come and see us, whether you have a specific question or simply want to catch up. We look forward to seeing you there.”
